Beaches. Mountains. Jungles. Ocean. Food. Art. Romance.
Once a sleepy waterside village, Elizabeth Taylor turned Puerto Vallarta turned into a celebrity hotspot. Back in 1964, the starlet scandalously moved there to be with her then-married-to-someone-else lover, Richard Burton, as he shot Night of the Iguana. Home to golden beaches, historical architecture, artsy culture, and arguably the best authentic food and tequila in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta is now a top destination, with more than 5 million visitors a year. Its modern first-world medical facilities are of the highest level. Puerto Vallarta is known as one of the safest cities and friendliest places in Mexico. You can easily get by on English. And its community make you feel like familia.
Paradise. Pristine beaches. Vibrant nightlife. Watersports. Cancún, a Mexican city on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the Caribbean Sea, is known for its beaches, numerous resorts and nightlife. It’s composed of 2 distinct areas: the more traditional downtown area, El Centro, and Zona Hotelera, a long, beachfront strip of high-rise hotels, nightclubs, shops and restaurants.
Turquoise water. Coral reefs. Rainforests. Parties. Resorts. Playa del Carmen is a coastal resort town in Mexico, along the Yucatán Peninsula's Riviera Maya strip of Caribbean shoreline. Located in the state of Quintana Roo, it’s known for its palm-lined beaches and coral reefs. Its Quinta Avenida pedestrian thoroughfare runs parallel to the beach, with blocks of shops, restaurants and nightspots ranging from laid-back bars to dance clubs.
Charming and modern: The Mexican medical border town. Here, Americans and Canadians can find heavily discounted prescriptions, eyeglasses, and medical and dental care, each as high quality as the same procedure or service back home. Algodones is located seven miles south of Yuma, Arizona, justoff Interstate 8, but you will be crossing the border at Andrade, California to access this small Mexican town located in the state of Baja California. People don't often travel here for fun, it's often for medical or dental purposes. But there are still lots of goodies for cross-boarder shoppers. And of course, there are still excellent tacos and Margaritas.
